Due to the comprehensive nature of our first visit, please allow for at least 45 minutes. Hometown Chiropractic wants to understand why you are at our office and we want you to fully understand how we can help and answer all of your questions. We will spend as much time with you as you need in order to help you feel comfortable about your health care decisions. It may help you to go through the community topics on the left side of our website which supplies some helpful answers to questions patients often have.
Your First Visit
Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our family. We will request that you complete our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. You can save about 15 minutes by downloading the initial patient forms from our site If you have faxed, emailed, or have filled it out at home please give it to the receptionist upon entering. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Ryan Walton. Before the consultation Dr. Walton may have you watch a video that explains a lot of what happens at our office before your consultation begins. The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify where we need to work. After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll make recommendations designed to help you get and keep your health.
After your consultation, Dr. Walton will discuss what testing and examinations must be performed in order to determine what can be done to help you. Dr. Walton will discuss all further treatments to ensure that you are comfortable with what will be need to be done. Nothing will be done in our office to you without your consent and full understanding.
Examination
If we determine that you are likely to benefit from chiropractic care, we can usually get started right away. Dr. Walton will perform a complete chiropractic examination. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. All of this testing is to determine the CAUSE of your problems and how chiropractic can help. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent. Your well-being is our first concern. We strive to communicate effectively, so you can more fully participate in your care. You are a partner and the most important member of this team!
X-Ray Studies
Depending on your specific condition, we may need X-rays as well. X-rays are not taken at our office but if needed will be send. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions such as Spinal Decay. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves. Full Spine Xrays are utilized at Hometown Chiropractic in order to visualize the entire spine as a whole and reduce the amount of xrays that a patient needs.
Treatment
Dr. Walton will usually adjust you during the 1st visit if X-rays are not indicated. However it is extremely important that Dr. Walton takes the time to review your x-rays, review the literature, and formulate a treatment plan options for your specific diagnosis. At the second visit Dr. Walton will sit down with you to talk about the game plan. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
Conclusion
At the conclusion of your first visit Dr. Walton will schedule you for your 2nd visit. At this point we should have answered all your questions and made you feel comfortable with your upcoming decisions. If you can, wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. For your first visit, please plan your time to allow about an hour in our office.
We look forward to meeting you!
